Dodgers Take Two!

We went to Maddie's 2nd Dodger game on Sunday June 28th and this time she looked like a girl in her PINK Dodger shirt! They were playing the Seattle Mariners. Unfortunately they lost. Apparently the two teams don't play blah very often blah because they're blah in different leagues.... blah blah blah! I'm just glad we got to go, I don't really care who they were playing. With Maddie there, I don't get to actually see much of the game. There's too much searching for her toy bunny and walking around when she's fussy. :)

It was a very hot day in LA but thankfully we were in the shade and there was a pleasantly cool breeze so it turned out to be perfect weather! Again, Maddie was a complete doll. She had fun being flirty with the two boys behind us. There was allot to look at and keep her entertained.

She managed to take a 15-20 minute nap. Funny how I try hard at home to not make any loud noises while she sleeps and yet she can manage to catch some zzz's at a Dodger game and during a raging birthday party. I guess my excuse at home is I'd like for her to sleep longer than 20 minutes at a time. :)

Please excuse the "proof" going across the photos of Matt and Maddie. We didn't get a family photo while we were there and none of Matt at all! We're too cheap to pay $20 for the actual Dodger photo so the proof will have to do.

Here's some video of everyone's favorite little lady. She's been in such a great mood lately. Daddy was making her hysterical by waving a blanket above his head. Funny Daddy!

Happy Father's Day!

We had such a great day. It all started with French Toast (that seems to be the preferred celebratory breakfast in our house). It was gooood.. did you know they make "french toast bread"? It was a little thicker and said it had a hint of maple flavor.. yummy, if only they made "bacon bread"! :)

We planned on two "dad's gonna grill" meals so we made burgers for lunch and chicken kabobs for dinner. Both turned out so great. Gosh, sounds like all we did was sit around and eat today!

Maddie and I gave Matt his Father's Day gifts in the morning. Future years are sure to contain ugly ties and "world's best dad" coffee mugs but this year we gave Matt (more-so Maddie) a fabric book entitled "Maddie & Her Daddy". He loved it! It's a book for Maddie to eat and Matt to read to her. It contains photos of the two of them from birth until now. Here are photos that came from the designer. For some reason I didn't take any photos today with the two of them holding it. (duh!)

We also gave Matt, the newest Dave Matthews Band CD that just came out.. we jammed to it while we got ready for the day. Too bad we've both had a Wiggles song stuck in our heads all day! "I drive a big red. I drive a big red. I drive a big red car."

We took a long walk up to a park that had baby swings. Maddie had fun and even went down her first slide!

Here they go!

Action Shot!

My oh so serious Maddie

Daddy got her laughing!

All in all, it was a really fun day. The sun decided to join us and the weather was just perfect. Maddie took a few naps and was in a pretty good mood. I know she loved spending the day with her dad.. tomorrow is just back to hanging with Mom on a Monday. :)

Happy Father's Day to Papa and Grandpa Frank! We miss you both!

A Fish Called Maddie

Ok, I can't believe I'm actually posting a photo of myself in a bathing suit but at least you aren't seeing much of me. Someone once pointed out that now that Maddie is here, nobody is looking at Mommy or Daddy so let's hope that's true!

On Friday we visited our friends, the Tennant's community pool. I was hoping her first experience was a positive one because we have a trip to Palm Springs planned in July and if anyone knows anything about Palm Springs in the Summer, the ONLY thing we're going to be doing is swimming in the pool. (It will be well into the 100's)

We've been preparing Maddie for the water by buying her a bathing suit, an adorable hat to match, swim diapers, a floating device, and baby sunscreen (all thanks to Grandma Doris who sent us a gift card- we also got her a small pool for at home but it hasn't been warm enough yet to warrant blowing it up).

I started slowly by putting her feet in, then progressed up to her waist. She LOVED it! She had a great time kicking her feet and Crista's daughter, Hannah, kept her giggling. She really enjoyed watching the kids and thought it was pretty cool splashing around. I was glad because she doesn't like her face to get wet in the bath.

I was feeling a little guilty about taking her on a week day for her very first time in the water because Matt was hard at work and wasn't able to join us. He didn't say anything but I would have been jealous and sad had it been the other way around and I was missing out.

We were sitting out of the pool and Maddie was taking a little nap when heard a familiar "hello!". Yay, Matt stopped by to see his cheeky monkey in action! He knew of our plans for the day and his schedule had changed a little so he was able to see her in the pool.

I'm telling you, when Maddie sees her Daddy, her entire face lights up! She had so much fun watching her dad from the side as she showed him her new floaty thing.

It's hard to believe it's almost the end of June but hopefully "June Gloom" is almost over and the weather will start to get nice.

We really had alot of fun and I can't wait to take her again!

We did it!

Matt and I left Maddie out of our sight for more than one hour! Whew! I have to admit, I was kinda nervous... we were invited to attend an evening wedding for our friend LuAnn's daughter, Meaghan. It seemed like so long ago when we said yes but all of a sudden that day was upon us. Maddie still wasn't drinking from a bottle or sippy (at least not well) and my main concern was the little cheeky monkey crying herself to sleep because she was so hungry. Poor cheeky monkey.

Auntie Alyx and Pam came by our house around 3:00 and we said our quick goodbyes at 4:40. We promised not to call but both carried our phones and checked them often to see if anyone called us. :)

Maddie has been eating solids 3 times a day for the past week or so. I think that helped.. Let me tell you, the three of them had a ball! Around 7:00 it was obvious that she was tired, they put her in her crib, and the little angel fell asleep. WHAT?! No crying? No drama because she missed her mama? Alright!

I'm telling you, if you're lying Pam and you guys had a miserable time until she finally fell asleep, take it to the grave with you because it made me feel so much better hearing the version I just told everyone.

We made it home just before 11:00 and were so excited to hear how things went.. she continued to sleep for a few more hours (good thing so I could sober up from my glasses of wine!). She finally woke up and was happy to see her mama, or at least the part that feeds her. :)

We had such a great time and could truly relax knowing two special people in our lives were watching over her. Thank you Pam and Alyx... we owe you one!

Laker Girl In Training

Miss Maddie, her Auntie Alyx, and Daddy all went to a Summer picnic for Alyx's job. (Geee a company that can actually afford to treat their employees well instead of making them feel "lucky" to have a job... What a concept!)

The theme of the picnic was "all things sports" and they actually had 6 of the Laker girls there. I think the Laker girl in the middle (in pants) is the cutest. She looks a little fussy.. all those boobies and not a lunch in a-one-of them!

Matt and Maddie had such a great time. There were tons of things for kids to do (can't wait for Maddie to enjoy this when she's older- pony rides, petting zoo, etc.) and Matt brought home some super yummy popcorn. AND get this... they had free Beer! Too bad Matt's designated driver wasn't there so he wasn't able to partake. I was off at a Mother's Tea hosted by my new MOM's Club group. That was fun but sounds like I really missed out.

There was a "cutest kid" contest and Miss Maddie was the runner-up! Yay! She won $25 for her piggy bank.

Thank you Auntie Alyx for such a great time... Maddie had a runny nose and hasn't slept the past 2 nights but sounds like she did well.
