Farmer Matt Plants His Summer 2008 Crops

Over the years Matt has really gotten into gardening. He really enjoys getting out there and setting up the drip irrigation and trying new things. We went to a veggie seminar this morning at a local nursery and walked away with a little more knowledge and some new veggies to try this year. Matt spent the day digging up the dirt, fertilizing and conditioning the soil. Who knew so much went into gardening? This year we have corn, onions, bell peppers, tomatoes (big and small), and cucumbers. I think he'll be adding anaheim peppers and sunflowers soon. Get ready to reap the rewards of all his hard work. Once those veggies start coming, they never seem to stop!

1 + 1 = 3 We're pregnant!!!

How's that for news even more exciting than new windows?!! :)

On March 5th Matt and I had our first doctor's appointment that confirmed we're indeed pregnant. We were able to see the heartbeat.. amazing how a tiny flicker on the screen can cause so much relief.

We were going to wait until the standard 12 week waiting period to share our news, but due to a scheduled camping trip, there's no way we could use the "designated driver" excuse one more time. Sorry for lying to all our friends on March 1st. Yes, I was the designated and Yes, I was pregnant!

We figured out our great news on Wed, Feb 20th. Those digital tests are awesome!

On the 5th, based on size and my charting, we were 6 weeks and 1 day so as of tomorrow we'll be 7 weeks. I can't wait for the next 5 weeks to pass quickly. Originally we thought we were 7 weeks based on my last menstrual period (LMP) but because my cycles are traditionally very long (40 days). The baby looks to be smaller than that. More information than you ever wanted to know, I'm sure.

So far only mild nausea, nothing major so keep your fingers crossed that continues. I'm a little more tired than usual and if you ask Matt, the hormones have kicked in. :) Our next doctor's appointment is Thursday April 3rd when we'll have another ultrasound to confirm the due date. So far it's looking like 10.28.08 which just so happens to be our 1 year wedding anniversary!

I promise baby bump photos and more as the next few months pass. It's sad that our family and some of our great friends don't live close enough to see us on a regular basis but we're hoping to be able to share our news and photos with this online journal (blog).

Check back for updates to see how things are going. We haven't informed my work as of yet, for no other reason than they're on a need to know basis. I'd like to keep it this way until the 2nd trimester if possible. I appreciate your help with that as some of you are friends with my coworkers.

Oh so happy to have a positive test!

Love the digital test. I took a strip test earlier in the week and didn't realize the faint line I saw was a positive reading! Duh!
