Park Talk Printables: Lawson Family Farewell Party

Park Talk Printables: Lawson Family Farewell Party: "This is one party that makes me sad to talk about... a dear friend and her family moved to Kansas and wanted to get together with friends at..."

Fun at the Party Store

A few weeks ago Maddie and I stopped in at a local party store. Look what we found! I love photo props and Maddie loves sunglasses. We had fun giggling together.

Look Out Elton!

Money-bags!

My favorite!

My Gym Ventura

Months and Months ago I purchase a discount gift certificate to My Gym in Ventura. We went there for our free preview class and there were a few things that bothered me so we didn't sign up that day. We tried out the T.O. location up the hill but they wouldn't accept my voucher (I didn't realize it was for Ventura only) and so decided to give Ventura another chance. We attended a special Luau event they had on a Saturday. After that, we signed up for one month unlimited. Best decision ever! Maddie enjoyed herself every time we went and called it "my gymnastics". We attending the Monday morning class for an hour, then 45 minutes or so of free play right after that. We also went to the Friday morning class a few times. Sadly, Monday was our last class but it was a really fun way to spend our mornings together. I'd say My Gym is a step up from Gymboree for the 2-4 year old age group. They also have summer art programs for the bigger kids.

Luau Party July 16th

The "kids" had to remove their shoes

Something LIVES in the ball pit!

Last Day of Class- Monday August 8th

The trampoline was a favorite

Swinging was a real lesson in taking turns and letting other people get a turn also. Hard to do when it's one of your favorite things in the world.

One her favorite teachers: Miss Kristen

And Mr Rudy

My Gym was a fun place to burn energy. At 2.5 Maddie was able to easily follow directions and focus on the task at hand (on most days). At this age, they talk to the kids about following the rules and having consequences. They also have a bit more structure "now it's time for _____ and you can choose to do _______ or ___________". It was fun to see her thrive and the teachers just adored her!

What Have We Been Up To Lately?

What haven't we been up to lately is a better question!

Gardening
Farmer Matt & Maddie's Pumpkin patch is going crazy!

I turned this sign, that I found on clearance...

...into this! Easy with a bit of craft paint and a stencil I made on the cricut using contact paper.

Maddie painted a garden gnome so daddy's wouldn't be lonely.

Now they live together.

Saturday August 6th
Fishing Frenzy in Thousand Oaks

This was our first year attending this event. For $5 each kid gets a bucket and a pole along with a punch card that allows them to play games and do crafts. We had so much fun and let me tell you, catching magnetic fish in a stream is much harder than it sounds! (Just ask the big kid, Matt)

Of course we made time for playing at the park too! Maddie loves parks that have the things that you talk into that carries sounds to the other side of the playground.

Later that night was our friend Enedina's 50th Luau Birthday Party
While the Aunties came over and spoiled Maddie was McDonald's (or as she calls it, Old Mac Donald's), we went to a Luau. My very first one! Ene did not disappoint. The food was great and the poor bartender was being overworked. I don't have more photos because I was enjoying the Zombies (drink of the night). She did however have dancers that so reminded me of the fire dancers we had a Mexico. Fun, Fun, Fun!

Sunday, August 7th
The Ventura County Fair

We had so much fun! Being that it was Sunday morning, it was not crowded at all. (Highly suggest attending in the morning, because by the afternoon, there were tons of people and the lines for everything were much longer.)

First we started with a few rides.

Then we saw some animals and we found this cute area where kids could pretend to be farmers.

Showing Some Chicken Love!

Of course, we didn't forget the pony ride! She's a natural cowgirl, Yee-Haw!

Then it was back to more rides. Daddy and Maddie went on the Ferris wheel. She loved it!

Off to the Mutton Races! Oh my, just incase you've never heard of this, people pay $10 to let their kids compete to see who can stay on the back of a sheep the longest (Rodeo style)

By the end of the day (3 o'clock-ish) we were all really tired after so much fun at the fair.
