Nursery Update

Look what I did this weekend! I've been searching for vinyl decals of a tree and birds but couldn't find something I loved. We ordered a sample and it really didn't look that great on our textured walls so I decided to paint. Then I spent another couple of weeks searching for bird/tree photos. I borrowed a digital projector from work, and spent the next two days (just a few hours) outlining in chalk, then paint pen, then filling in with paint. It turned out SUPER cute and worth the puffy feet at the end of the day.

We also ordered our baby bean's name in wooden letters with ribbon to hang. (That's right, we know her name but we're trying to keep it a surprise!) I'm going to use paper that matches her bedding and mod podge the front of the letters. I'll have them in a month or so.

We received our closet organizer so that will be the next project, getting it installed.

Here's a few photos to show the progress of the weekend.

Dimino Family Farm - 2008

Matt made me promise to take photos after he got his weeding done this weekend but I couldn't help myself! It's so great to eat food from our backyard. The plums from our tree finished dropping a couple of weeks ago and now the tomatoes have started. This plant is massive! It basically picked up its cage and has taken over.

The peppers are growing, we enjoyed green onions with last night's dinner and cherry tomatoes are still going strong. So far we've gotten one cucumber and the carrots should be ready to pick soon.

A big thank you to my Lovie for not only providing nutritious food for our (growing) bellies but for saving us money at the grocery store!

The most delicious strawberries!
Oranges are still coming! They're sooooo gooood!

We haven't gotten any avocados yet but we found a few "baby" ones so hopefully next year!

If all goes well Baby Bean Dimino is going to have her very own pumpkin from our backyard! (last photo)

San Diego/Sea World

I really wanted to have a little getaway before our little girl arrives. We wanted someplace close that I could use my Hilton hotel points at. We both really enjoy San Diego and I found an Embassy Suites located across from the Seaport Village. That was our first time staying in that area. Embassy Suites is great because they have a free made to order breakfast (yummy!) and manager's reception in the evening (free booze). We stayed at one in Anaheim (Disneyland) a few years ago and drank ourselves silly between 5:30 and 7:30.. this time was a little different. :)

Anyhow we both worked on Friday and left town in the afternoon. It was a long drive with traffic the first part of the way but we arrived around 7:00 at our hotel. The next morning we woke up and took our time. We were off to Sea World and knew we were going to stay until dark to see Shamu at night and the fireworks. We arrived around 1:00 and were there until 10:00! That's alot of walking. Good thing we walked as much as we did because we got two huge scoops of ice cream in a waffle cone before night came. Good stuff!! I proceeded to get chocolate ice cream on my belly but these days everything seems to land there.

By the end of the night, I felt like I was waddling more than actually walking but Matt helped me through it and we slept well that night. We aren't one to ask others to take our photo so most of our shots (the few there are) are self portraits.. gotta love the extremely unflattering close-ups AND we took our baby girls first photos at Sea World. I know they don't count but she was kicking around that day and seemed to enjoy herself just fine.

The next day we headed back home and stopped to order a chair for the nursery. (As always baby was on the brain.) Actually it saved us an additional trip into the valley. (We ordered from the same place we got the nursery furniture so hopefully they arrive around the same time and get delivered together). We got this chair and ottoman in a dark brown figuring it can be used in the future in a bedroom or even living room.

That's it for the big stuff that needed to be ordered in advance. Now all the little stuff....

Week 25 Baby Bump

For those of you too far away to see the baby bump in person, here's my 25 week photo.

I'm at a great size.. not so big that I feel uncomfortable, but big enough that people know I'm pregnant. (At least I hope that's what they're assuming!)
I love that she's staying right out front and center.
I still feel great. I've been having some upper back aches lately but it's probably due to poor posture and not so much the baby. Although I'm sure my body is adjusting daily to the extra weight in the front.

Today she was super active. I felt her from morning until night. I still get excited every time I feel her!

The nursery is painted!

Instead of fireworks, this year we saw paint cans, brushes, and the inside of Lowes (a couple of times). Matt and I survived another painting adventure and we love the final product, we hope baby bean does too.
We didn't chose typical nursery colors for our baby girl. Rather we chose colors that compliment our house and style.

Cool Blue = Soar by Behr (we used Valspar paint and had Lowes mix)- Flat Enamel
Dark Brown = Deep Earth by Valspar- Flat Enamel

I know, I'm not suppose to be on a ladder. Nobody was hurt in the painting of this room, except Matt's finger due to a caulking incident.. he's fine.

We spent all 3 days painting (4 if you count Matt painting the ceiling on Thursday)
2 coats on the bottom, one coat on top. 3 coats of primer to cover the grey/blue + navy blue that was there when we moved in and the white trim on Sunday to finish off the weekend.

Finished walls

Baby Bean Dimino's first photo in her new room, um and no I wasn't sticking my stomach out on purpose.. she's expanding!

We painted the inside of the closet the same blue color and will be installing a closet system that we ordered. We'll be sure to post photos of that project.. stay tuned!
